Cuba is the biggest island in the Caribbean and the
one located more toward the west, being to only 145 km of the
south coast of the Florida. Approximately a fourth part of the
country is quite mountainous. To the west of Havana, the narrow
Sierra of the Orgános reaches the 750 meters of altitude,
in the Mountain range of Guaniguanico.
In the center the Montañas of Trinidad, rises until the
1.100 meters. The highest point in the island is the Pick Turquino
(1.974 meters) in Sierra Teacher. to the east of the country.
A room of the island is covered with mountains covered with pine
forests and mahogany. The rest of the territory is flat and fertile.
The rivers are short and mighty. Cuba has 5.746 km. of coast
and 289 beaches.
The official language is Spanish, something of English is also
spoken, French, German, Italian and Russian.
Cuba is the lay country in Latin America, (before the revolution
the population's 10% was only a practitioner). besides the Roman
Catholic religion, it is very extended the santería, Afro-Cuban
cult that was born as a sincretismo among the Catholic religion,
introduced by the Spaniards and the African cults cared by the
arrived slaves from Africa.
